What a year it has been.
Many have already written off 2020. Many will have already given up and are simply waiting for New Years Eve, as if a turn of a calendar really changes things, but I want to encourage you that there is only one event in human history that is powerful enough to change your circumstances.
You see in the midst of situations, we often become totally consumed with what’s in front of us that we miss the bigger picture. For our finite capacity to understand can only truly handle what has been given to us today.
The truth is that proximity often convolutes perspective, the closer we are to something, the bigger it appears to be.
In light of this, I want to ask you: how will you remember the year 2020? Many will label 2020 as the lockdown or pandemic year, but the truth is there is only ONE designated label appropriate for each year.
You see, history did not begin 2020 years ago on the year “0”. 2020 is actually a short-form of it’s longer name, it’s longer label.
Every year up to this point has been plastered with the same initials: A.D. colloquially termed “After Death” it is actually the term “Anno Domini”, “The Year of the Lord.” It signifies the birth of Jesus Christ, and thus every year prior to that is labelled B.C., “Before Christ”.
There is only one name in history that is worthy to define the calendar of our lives, and that is the name of Jesus Christ.
2020 will have no other label other than, Anno Domini, The Year of The Lord, for only Jesus Christ is worthy to be remembered for all of human history.
Let me encourage you, let your year be labelled as the Year of the Lord. Let this be the year where you put your trust in the eternal name and salvation of Jesus Christ.
When you do, your earthly, limited perspective expands to something far more eternal and constant, and your circumstances seem a lot less daunting, for you will live with a perspective dominated by eternity.
