Planted

“Those who are planted in the house of the Lord, will flourish” — Psalm 92:23

With so many churches going online it can be so easy to nit-pick the messages we listen to. We can succumb to consumerist Christianity where we pick and choose from the best preachers and churches.

The Bible says to abide in Christ. He is the rock on which we stand, the foundation of our lives. God, therefore, calls us to grow in fellowship with the people He has placed in and over our lives.

The Bible says that we are not to be carried by every wind of doctrine. Contextually, that means to be faithful with the theological truth of God’s Word, but it also denotes that not every word you hear is intended for you.

The Apostle James says that those who are double-minded are like a wave tossed by the wind who cannot receive anything from God. Literally, the Bible says that you cannot receive when your mind has a diverted focus.

It is so critical to our growth in Christ to remain planted where He has called us. That does not mean that you cannot be encouraged by a message, however, to be fed and edified are two different realities.

In fact, the truth is: the Bible is our primary source of spiritual nourishment. To receive a revelation from reading God’s Word first-hand is far greater than receiving second-hand revelation from another person.

One scripture verse that is meditated each day will always be more potent than a verse skimmed through on a Sunday.

In this season, rather than binging Netflix, meditate on God’s Word day and night and your way will be made prosperous, and you will succeed in everything you do, in every season.
