The greatest sermons you could ever preach are the ones you preach to yourself. I was encouraged by something I wrote about a year ago, here’s an excerpt.

The key to overcoming sin in this life is to enter into the place of rest which Christ has already worked to create.

Instead of working to overcome sin, God calls us to diligently enter into God’s dwelling place — His place of rest.

We simply must enter into the reality that Christ has done it all.

The next time you fall into sin, your first response should be to look at the finished work of Jesus Christ. In Him, you are completely forgiven and accepted by God.

God knew that there was nothing you could do to gain His approval, this is why He sent His Son Jesus, to live the perfect life for you.

So, what makes you think that it’s up to you to deliver yourself from sin?

Have faith in Jesus’ completed work on the cross, rely on His righteousness, be diligent to enter into His rest, and abandon your own efforts to become righteous.

If you do, you may see yourself delivered from sin in this life, but if not, have hope in knowing that you will be completely delivered when you pass from this life into eternity with God.
